Was Frida Jewish? Does it matter?

Frida Kahlo, she of beauty and strength, the proud feminist who saw painting and art as a means of expressing herself and the yearning spirit of freedom in all revolutionaries, she who bedded Trotsky and colored an evolution in vibrant shades of independence, claimed to be Jewish.

This is a fact that is little known by all except for those who seek to dispute it.

One must wonder about the motives of those who turn a blind eye to this woman's incredible work and powerful, emotive imagery and instead train their hate-filled, microscopic eyes upon her assertions of heritage.

Sleep, dear artist. Lay your head down.

RIP: William Safire

Isramerica: From Tel Aviv to Broadway

Artists 4 Israel is proud to co-sponsor a select collection of the finest Israeli and Jewish-American performers demonstrating their remarkable talents on Broadway's great blue and white way. Curated by the dynamic Sivan Hadari, who is quite obsessed with hummus, this is the first of a monthly series of programs to highlight the emerging talent of Israeli singers, dancers, playwrights and actors in one place. A4I looks forward to stealing much of the talent for our upcoming programs.
